Planting Roses:
Spring is the best time to plant rose
bushes in your garden. The selection
of new varieties, colors and types are
exciting in the market place.
A key to success with roses is to plant
early and in a well-prepared soil. This
is done by applying to the original
soil, a course compost or organic material
of about 2-3 inches in depth. Additionally,
apply 5-10 lbs. of dolomitic limestone
per 100 sq. feet, and ½ to 1
lb. Of bone meal or 5-10-10 fertilizer.
Now the work begins, turn the soil over
mixing the ingredients to a depth 12-14”
inches, then let the soil settle before
planting. |
